Equine Therapy
Our therapeutic riding lessons are individualized 50-minute private sessions designed to support each rider's social, emotional, physical, and personal growth. Whether a rider is working toward recreational, performance, or therapeutic goals, lessons are tailored to meet their unique needs.
During each session, riders build important life skills through their partnership with the horse. We focus on communication, timing, feel, consistency, creativity, rhythm, trust, and emotional regulation while creating a safe, supportive environment where riders can gain confidence and develop healthy coping skills. We are also happy to incorporate IEP goals into lessons when appropriate.
For riders with physical needs, the horse's natural movement provides therapeutic benefits that help improve strength, balance, posture, coordination, muscle tone, and range of motion. As riders progress, they also develop greater self-confidence, independence, responsiveness, problem-solving skills, and meaningful relationships with both horses and instructors.
Our goal is to help every rider grow at their own pace while building confidence, resilience, and skills that carry over into everyday life.

Sensory Experiences:
While many of our activities at Rainbow Equine Center are about learning how to steer, stop, and have fun on a horse, we provide other sensory stimulation. At the farm we provide sensory experiences that include painting of horses, grooming of horses, bathing of horses, and other animal interactions. By having these other activities of sensory input we can ensure that each individual continues to learn both on and off a horse. These additional activities aid in attention, speech, and motor and body awareness by using touch, movement and sound. We understand that some days are not riding days and want to provide as much stimulation to keep a keen focused mind.
